Vintage Victorian Batiste Skirt and Blouse
SKU: vvt066
This marvelous piece of history is a white cotton batiste skirt and blouse. It is so delicate and beautiful with its pin tucks and crocheted lace trims. The skirt is 41 inches long from waist to hem, the waist is 24 inches around and closes with a hook and eye. It has vertical pin tucking around the top of the skirt and horizontal pin tucking around the skirt in severla places with an inset of crocheted lace about 3/4's of the way down. The blouse is made of the same material made in a victorian style with a high collar and puffy sleeves that end into a narrow cuff that is 7 inches long. It has a row of ruffles on each side of the bodice. There is a square crocheted lace inset. This must have been a dress worn by a nursing mother as behind the ruffle on each side is a row of hook and eyes to allow access to the breast for feeding. There is a row of tiny buttons down the back of the dress. The detail on this dress is fabulous! The material is very delicate and there are some small places on the dress that have seperated due to age but for the most part the dress is in great condition. I would estimate it as late 1800's to early 1900's.
